I wanted to first thank everyone who supported me in my efforts last year raising $4,500.00, especially my wife and family. Running the Boston Marathon was truly a memorable experience that you could really never understand unless you do it.
This is my second year running for a great cause that I believe in 100%. I started running 4 yrs ago with my first road race for a wrestler I coached who passed, Frank " FRANKIE" DeMeo. I have run over a dozen races, all his name. The second person I am running for is my patient partner and a cool little man, Collin. He is an awesome little man and it makes training a little easier knowing we made a difference for him and his family. The third is for my father who has battled cancer for 10 years now, in and out of hospitals, tons of treatments and he never complains about. So I figured that 26.2 miles of pain and hard work wasn't that bad for people like these.
I know that they pre-write this for us but this statement is so true I had to steal it,
"I'm fundraising for this event because I believe so strongly in all the good things Children's Hospital Boston does for kids. Its patient care programs are unusually sensitive to what sick and injured children and their families really need. Its researchers regularly make amazing discoveries that change children's lives. It welcomes kids whose families can't afford health care-more than any other hospital in Massachusetts. It makes a point of reaching out to local communities to help low-income and at-risk kids. And it really gets the importance of training the next generation of top pediatricians and nurses. "
My goal this year is pretty high but what is life without high goals that seem unattainable sometimes. I like to believe that I am making a difference, I'm not just sitting back saying there nothing I can do. I'm getting off my butt and doing something! Please donate, pennies, nickels, every little bit counts.
