Thos. Moser Boston will be hosting a weekend fundraiser to benefit Boston Children's Hospital beginning with an opening reception and silent auction Friday, June 14th from 5:30 to 9PM at our Arlington Street Showroom. We are located at 19 Arlington St., between Boylston and Newbury Streets, across from the Public Gardens, and adjacent to the Arlington Street Church.
We have received numerous generous donations of art, event tickets, restaurant gift certificates and home decor, not to mention a pair of tickets for an upcoming Red Sox / Yankees matchup at Fenway Park. The same evening local author Frances Driscoll will be present for a booksigning and launch of her children's book, "The Swan Boat Ride", with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Boston Children's Hospital. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
Starting with the opening reception and continuing throughout our fundraising weekend, Thos. Moser craftsman Warren Shaw will be demonstrating the fine art of building one of our signature pieces, the iconic New Gloucester Rocker. Warren is one of countless Boston Children's Hospital success stories: as a six year old boy, Warren had a hole in his heart repaired by the surgeons of BCH. At the time (1968), this was considered a very pioneering pediatric surgery. Now, 45 years later, Warren is delighted to be giving back to the hospital that saved his life!
Throughout the weekend (from 10AM until 6PM Saturday, June 15th and continuing Sunday, June 16th from 11AM until 5PM) individuals desiring to make a donation to Boston Children's Hospital will have the opportunity to sign the underside of the rocker seat, where the Moser craftsperson traditionally applies his/her signature. The completed rocker will be brought to our workshop for final finishing then donated to the Devon Nicole House.
Boston Children's Hospital has been nationally ranked as one of the best pediatric hospitals for almost two decades, caring for more than 170,000 patients every year – many with health problems no other hospital in the world can handle. Every day, the doctors and nurses at Boston Children's combine courage, creativity and compassion to provide life-changing care.
We hope you will consider supporting this fundraising effort and the good works of Boston Children's Hospital.
